Getting to Know the Ghost – Character Tag

INTERVIEW WITH THE GHOST, October 1945

Reporter: So, if your name isn’t really Kitana Shang… then what is it? And what is your story? Would you mind doing an interview with me? I’m sure it will make a great article for the newspaper I work for.

The ghost: I don’t know about that.

Reporter: Oh, come on! Just a few questions and answers then, that’s all. Nothing too invasive. I will keep it simple…

► Name? ➔ I would rather keep my real name unknown if you don’t mind. But I’ve taken on the name of Kitana Shang, so she can be blamed for all the bad things I’ve done. she said with laughter

► Are you single? ➔ Why, do you want a date?… Truth is, I’m in a love/ hate relationship with Shu-Kei Shang… Well, sometimes, anyway.

► Are you happy? ➔ There’s a saying “misery loves company”, and I like to cause as much pain and misery as possible. I’m your worst nightmare come true, but with a beautiful face, of course.

► Are you angry? ➔ I’ve been a slave to the Shangs all my life… so what do you think?

► Are your parents still married? ➔ I never knew them… but you could say my slave masters adopted me in a way and they are still married.

NINE FACTS

► Birth Place? ➔ Shanghai, eastern China.

► Hair Color? ➔ Black.

► Eye Color? ➔ They were green a long time ago.  But they’re black now, because of what Akia-Khan did (my adoptive father )

► Birthday? ➔ I’m not sure of the day or the month, but I was born in the year 1617.

Reporter: Well, you got a great imagination, I’ll give you that, and you don’t look a day over 28.

The ghost: What? I should look 19… I only start looking older when the quickening starts and that shouldn’t happen for a few years yet!

The reporter: Sorry, I didn’t mean to imply that you looked old, you look beautiful.

The ghost: Well, aren’t you a charmer.

Reporter: What’s the quickening?

The ghost: Nothing… please continue.

► Mood? ➔ Angry most of the time. But I’ve learned over the years not to show it…

DAM-MIT! Oh! did I just say that out loud, sorry about that!

► Gender? ➔ Can’t you tell?

Reporter: Sorry, this is one of my first interviews like this and I made a list to go by in my little book here.

The ghost: Oh!

► Summer or winter? ➔ When I was a child, I loved the summer… but I don’t like the sunlight these days, so I would have to say the winter when it’s dark and gloomy.

► Morning or afternoon? ➔ I’m not sure how to answer that question, I don’t really need sleep in that sense. I sleep for a year at times, maybe once every 100 years or so.

EIGHT THINGS ABOUT YOUR LOVE LIFE

► Are you in love? ➔ Yes, with Shu-Kei Shang… I know I’m in love with him because I hate him so much… Don’t worry, my darling, there’s enough love in my heart for you as well… she said to the reporter with a smile on her face

► Do you believe in love at first sight? ➔ Yes!  I can’t help being so damned irresistible that sometimes I have to fight men off me with a stick.

► Who ended your last relationship? ➔ Shu-Kei Shang after I tried to kill him. I couldn’t help it, I was in a really bad mood that day.

► Have you ever broken someone’s heart? ➔ Oh! I love doing that, that’s one of the simple pleasures in life.

► Are you afraid of commitments? ➔ That’s a difficult question for me, as I’ve been a slave all my life.

► Have you hugged someone within the last week? ➔ No, I’ve been too busy, but I did kiss Shu-Kei, does that count?

► Have you ever had a secret admirer? ➔ Yes, there are too many to count… Oh! and Sawyer has a crush on me, I’m working with him at the moment.

► Didn’t you say you were both very much deeply in love?➔ Oh! That’s right, I did say that, didn’t I? Don’t worry, darling, I was just messing with him… He means nothing to me.

► Have you ever broken your own heart? ➔ Let’s not go there.

SIX CHOICES

► Love or lust? ➔ As long as you can get people to jump through hoops, who cares.

► Lemonade or iced tea? ➔I can’t remember what either of them tastes like or even if I even had some for that matter… but I do like a vintage red wine.

► Cats or Dogs? ➔ Now you’re talking, I like both.

► A few best friends or many regular friends? ➔ Both again, I’m not fussy, these questions are making me feel hungry.

► Wild night out or romantic night in? ➔ A wild night out.

► Day or night? ➔ Night… with my night vision I have, the darker the better.

FIVE HAVE YOU EVERS

► Been caught sneaking out? ➔ Sneaking out, I wish… To be caught sneaking out, you would need someone who cared for that.

► Fallen down/up the stairs? ➔ No, never, I’ve been pushed a few times. I get into a lot of fights, and before you ask… I win, well most of them I do, anyway.

► Wanted something/someone so badly it hurt? ➔ Shu-Kei…

Don’t ask me why I live without him like this all alone, I wish things could be different, that I was different. The way we were, back in 1634, before any of this happened to us… Love, in some ways, is like a stranger to me.

► Wanted to disappear? ➔ In some ways, yes, I would, but Soolin would kill me if I ever tried to do something like that. as every 16 years I have to return to her and what would I say  – “Sorry, mistress, but I decided I needed a vacation”? It’s not easy being someone’s slave when they can pull the rug from under your feet at any time.

FOUR PREFERENCES

► Smile or eyes? ➔ Eyes are the window to the soul because they can give clues as to what another person is thinking. We all know that when people just smile with their mouths, the smile is probably false. When the smile includes the eyes, then it is probably genuine.

► Intelligence or Attraction? ➔ Why settle for one, when you can have both? But if I had to choose one, it would have to be intelligence.

► Hook-up or Relationship? ➔ Relationship, only had one… Hook up, as you call them, I would call them freshy, and I keep them around as my personal guards until I get bored with them.

FAMILY

Shu-Kei, the real Kitana, Savannah, Soolin, Akia-Khan and baby Khan  (the way they were in 1634)

► Do you and your family get along? ➔ The only family I ever had is the Shangs, and I hate them with a passion, especially the real Kitana Shang… Don’t get me started about her, she’s a stuck up little princess.

► Would you say you have a “messed up life”? ➔ No, what makes you ask a question like that?

► Have you ever run away from home? ➔ I have never had a place I would call home as such, and if I did run away, I would only live for 16 years out there on my own, unless I could find a cure for what the Akia-Khan did to me… Maybe one day, I will break their chains they have on me, but for now running away isn’t an option.

I’ve never heard of tagging before, so this is the first time I’ve done this, I wanted to do the real Kitana, as she’s my favourite character, but she’s an old character now and you can read her background story in season two, from Chapter 19: The Way We Were, 1634, part 1.

Just would like to thank Bee for asking me to do this, it’s been a lot of fun to do.

► Do you secretly hate one of your friends? ➔ Friends? Hate? Now, look! Don’t believe a word about what you hear about me. None of it is true…

►Do you consider all of your friend’s good friends? ➔ They were all the best, but they all died. So sad, really.

► Who is your best friend? ➔ I suppose at the moment you could say Jack Sawyer is.

► Who knows everything about you? ➔ The Shangs… I would spit on them if I could. Please don’t tell mistress Soolin I said that.

► Come on, tell me, what is your real name?➔ If I told you, I would have to kill you… Are you sure you want to know? Haha!… I’m sorry, only joking! she said with a big smile on her face Okay, next question then, please.

►Oh, how about pets?➔  Hub “mad dog” Sawyer… Does he count?

►Have you ever hurt anyone in any way before?➔ Why? what have you heard?

►Ever… killed anyone before?➔ No, of course not! I told you, don’t believe any of the rumours you’ve heard about me.

►What kind of animal are you?➔ Oh! I like to think of myself as a cute little kitten!

►Name your worst weaknesses?➔ Haha! Do you really think I’d tell you, even if I had one?

►Do you look up to anyone at all?➔ Only Saja, she’s the only person that has always been kind to me. But she may be dead, no one’s seen her in for a few hundred years.

►Ever want to marry and have kids one day?➔ I wanted to marry Shu-Kei Shang once, a long time ago now.  But if we ever got married now, we would end up killing one another and I can’t have children.

►Do you have fangirls/fanboys? Yes, I do… They keep me cool during the hot summers.

►What are you most afraid of?➔ Failing mistress Soolin… She would most certainly kill me for that.

►What do you usually wear? ➔ Elegant Chinese silk clothing, of course.

►Am I annoying you?➔ If you were, you would be dead… Just joking, darling! she said seductively

►Well, it’s not over!➔  It would be. if you were annoying me.

►What class are you (low class, middle class, high class)?➔ A slave who lives life in high class.

►What’s one food that tempts you?➔  You don’t want to know the answer to that.

►Would you consider a date with a reporter?➔ That depends if you are asking me out?

Reporter: After the interview, this is great stuff, people are going to love reading this.

►Favorite drink? ➔ I see that you and I are going to be really good friends, my darling… as the ghost edged closer and closer, she took her glasses off and the reporter got to see the cold black eyes for the first time, it sent chills down his spine. And then she said,  “I’m even going to tell you my real name”, as she whispered it softly in her ear. “It’s ……………..”

The poor interviewer reporter didn’t realize the danger he was in until it was too late…

The ghost: I’m sorry, my darling… but I couldn’t let you tell anybody all this.
